Mini reporters celebrate end of ‘Our Year’ and discuss future of Manchester for young people

Last year (2022) was Our Year – 12 months of action to create more activities, opportunities, experiences and support for children and young people, led by Manchester City Council.
The city is striving towards becoming a UNICEF UK child-friendly city, which recognises the commitment and access to rights and services for young people.
Of course, a celebration was in order to reflect on all of the work put in last year and to highlight all of the services and organisations involved in the campaign.
Watch as our mini reporters Ben and Cece get stuck in at the event and chat with UNICEF and other young people attending from local schools.
Binish from MADE, Manchester’s local cultural education partnership, said: “I want to see more young people in politics and more change happen.”

Jo Maycock, from UNICEF UK, said: “A child-friendly city looks like a city where all children understand their rights and have a meaningful say in the services, play-spaces and opportunities that matter to them.”
This is only just the beginning, so let’s make every year Our Year!
