Seasoned Media Cub Ben Watkins has been chosen as a runner-up at the High Sheriff’s Young Citizen of the Year Awards 2023.

The awards, chosen by High Sheriff Lorraine Worsley-Carter MBE, aimed to celebrate the achievements of young people across Greater Manchester.

Ben was recognised for his “outstanding contribution towards social action” and for “addressing issues that are important to people”.

Ben Watkins said: “I am incredibly grateful to Kirsty for nominating me. Lorraine was really kind and happy to talk with us about Media Cubs’ aim to help young people broadcast confidence and get their voices heard, as she herself is a journalist.
